2nd Consecutive Year of great Gala Sports Festival sponsored by Truspace commenced on 09 December 2018. There was an overwhelming response from Sports Enthusiast Members of Deccan Gymkhana.
The Ball Games were divided into Table Tennis, Volleyball, Basket Ball and Tennis. Total 160 Members were divided in 05 Teams namely Rhinos, Wolves, Eagles, Bulls and Panthers.
There was a hard fought tussle to win each Sport and the Championship. Championship Prize Distribution Ceremony was held on 15 December 2018.
The Honor to felicitate the Championship Winners was given to Ms. Pooja Sahasrabudhe Koparkar, an International Table Tennis Player.
Deccan Gymkhana felicitated Ms. Pooja Sahasrabudhe Koparkar by offering her Honorary Membership.
RHINOS proved its Metal by winning the Championship with Wolves following them for Runners-Up Prize.
A game of Judo is introduced in Deccan Gymkhana and the inaugural function was held on 11 November 2018 at 06.00 PM.
The Inauguration was done by renowned Veteran Judoka Deepak Tilak.
Few renowned Judokas were also felicitated at the opening ceremony.
27 October 2018, a Memorable Day, for Deccan Gymkhana and Cricket Department of Deccan Gymkhana in particular. All eagerly waited for Legend to arrive and as his reputation goes the Legend arrives on dot 10 AM driven by Sunandan Lele, an international fame Sports Reporter.
Legend was welcomed by Senior Members and Office Bearers. Sunny was very appreciative seeing the renovated Talim Pavilion and very well maintained Cricket Ground. Knowing his liking for nature and greenery, a tree plantation of Night Blooming Jasmine (Raatrani) was organized as per his choice.
Gavaskar went around the Pavilion to see the setup and was impressed seeing the various Trophies in kitty of Deccan Gymkhana and happily autographed a Cricket Bat which will remain as Memento of his visit.
He was very impressed with all the Sports Facilities available at Deccan Gymkhana seeing from Terrace of Club House Building. Tea with Gavaskar was attended by many Cricket Lovers where he fluently answered many tricky questions and gave a Live Demonstration of the Secret behind his Concentration related to Tea and Glucose Biscuits.
Aseem Foundation a Pune based NGO working in unstable border areas of India like J&K striving to reach out every man in those areas with a primary aim of education, skilled development, Social Entrepreneurship Development & Research and Awareness.
Aseem in-co-ordination with Deccan Gymkhana had organized an Under 17 T20 Cricket Match with a Team coming from Samba, a Border town of J&K.
Match was won by Deccan Gymkhana Team.
The match was attended by Lt Gen Vinayak Patankar (retd), Air Marshal Bhushan Gokhale (retd).
The match was inaugurated with a Toss by a Disabled Soldiers out of 04 from Paraplegic Rehabilitation center who were present for the entire function.
Sub Area Commander Major Gen Navneet Kumar who gave away the Prizes to both the Teams, Officials & a Memento to Deccan Gymkhana. A well-known Doctor & Writer Dr Alka Mandke was also present for the event & gave away the prizes.
Annual Felicitation Function to motivate and recognize the Excellence achieved by the Sport Persons of Deccan Gymkhana in various fields of Sports was held on 10 Feb 2018 from 07.00 PM to 08.30 PM.
The Meritorious Sportspersons, Veterans & Coaches at State, National and International Level were felicitated by Mr. Jay Apte Chief Trustee, Mr. Ajay Gupte Hon. General Secretary and The Chief Guest Mr. Karsan Ghavri a famous Indian Cricketer. These include the Specially Abled Sportspersons also.
The function was attended largely by Members of Deccan Gymkhana, Parents and Well-wishers. The function concluded with photo sessions. The glimpses of the function can be seen in the photographs.
Saturday, 10 Feb 2018 at 06.30 PM was the Momentous time for Deccan Gymkhana and particulary for Cricket Department. The auspicious was Inauguration of Historically important newly Renovated Talim Pavillion (Cricket Pavillion).
The Guest of Honor for the function was Indian Left Arm Pace Bowler, Mr. Karsan Ghavri, Grand son of Late. Mr. T.V. Talim, Mr. Suhas Talim, Adv Abhay Apte, President MCA and Mr. Riyaz Bagwan, Secretary MCA.
